More press for the Deth

El Deth received some more much appreciated press in Knoxville's Metro Pulse this week. The piece in the Eye on the Scene section talks about the upcoming Matgo Primo release, as well as the resurfacing of El Deth, in general. Check out the full article by clicking here.

Capitalism: A Love Story in theaters October 2nd!

Having worked with Dog Eat Dog Films back in 2002 (when Bowling for Columbine was fresh and new), we're always a little anxious and giddy when Michael Moore hits us with a new film. Capitalism: A Love Story is the next one and it's looking like it may be his most powerful and relevant piece yet. It's out in theaters on October 2nd. Check out the trailer below and please tell a friend!

Obadiah Rebirthday review in Metro Pulse and Matgo Primo on the way

Rebirthday, the new old disc from Obadiah received a pretty favorable review in Knoxville's Metro Pulse this week. Take a few seconds to check it out here. And thanks to Matt Everett for taking the time to listen and review! If anyone else out there would be interested in receiving a hard copy to review or give airplay to, please do not hesitate to contact arrison@eldeth.com.

Also, stay tuned here because we have another full length album coming in October. You may have already read about this on Steve Wilsmith's blog or in The Daily Times. To commemorate the five year anniversary of El Deth Halloween 2004 (the blow out on the tree farm), we will be freely releasing Matgo Primo: Dead and Live. This is a newly mixed and mastered, live board recording of Matgo Primo's entire set from the event. Captured on the disc is Matgo Primo in their rawest early workings. Also included will be an intermission of awkward and amusing stage announcements made when the police showed up in the middle of the set. So if you were in attendance, it will hopefully serve as a refreshing trip down memory lane. If you weren't there, you can see what you missed. We'll keep you posted, of course.

A return from the desert...

It's been a while, but we are still here. After much internal contemplation, overturning of resources and a flood of problems and their subsequent solutions, we have decided to redefine ourselves in this green and purple way. The changes, however, do not stop at the simple, new website you see before you.

El Studio is officially opened to the public once again. We have new rates that are aimed to cut through the hourly standards and work around the needs and budget of anyone seeking studio time.

This is not to discount the fact that El Studio is still plugging away in the private use department. And so, with this revamping of the site, we are also releasing Rebirthday by Obadiah - free for your downloading pleasure! This is an abridged version of one of Obadiah's classic psychedelic jazz sessions. Originally recorded in 2005 and edited by Josh Lunsford, it has been newly remastered by Arrison Kirby.

One final change around here is this news page. In the past, it has primarily been used to advertise shows and events. Pretty dry, otherwise. Ideally now, however, we intend for it to serve as something of a blog. Check back here frequently for one-off mp3's from the El Deth audio archives. Anyone who would like to contribute a guest article, mp3 or album review, feel free to send your goods to arrison@eldeth.com. If you can help us out in any other way, feel free to shoot an email to the same address.

In any case, thank you for your continued support, despite our varying opacity.
